Again, I’m Looking For Client

New semester has begun.

In fact, it has started for almost 4 weeks now. Like what I have expected, this new semester is going to be a tougher one because we, the 3rd year student is assigned to a ‘bigger assignment’ – that is to conduct a minimum of 7 counseling sessions.

Wow!

7 sessions man!

Well seriously, conducting sessions aren’t a problem for me because I love this job. Listening to others’ issues, understanding them by putting myself into theirs shoes and exploring ways together with the clients in making changes always intrigue me. It fascinates me on how a person change and grow after the counseling session to live the way they want; the way they desire.

Although I am not yet a professional counselor and the number of client that I have met isn’t that much, I have faith in myself that I am growing and doing better and better. The reason is because, I am learning from my client too besides books, personal experiences and etc. The way I handle the session, the way I speak, the way I react and the way I put myself into my client’s shoes have given me a bigger picture on how to conduct a good counseling session – and each time, I realize I am improving.

Thank you to my volunteers who have allowed me to learn from them in last semester. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to develop my counseling skills. Without your help, I wouldn’t have written this post with deep satisfaction.

Conducting a group sessions with 4 clients.

This time, I need client again for my final counseling course and I realize it is quite tough to find client in my campus. Well, this will be the last time I provide free counseling service to those who are interested (under the supervision of my lecturer). Once this semester has ended, there will be no more F.O.C counseling service. That’s mean, you will have to pay! Lol.. =)

Nah… I am just joking. I still need to do my practical in a selected organization/hospital/etc. Long way to go but with your help and support, it wouldn’t be that tough… =)

I am not that good in marketing about myself but being aware that I have this blog, I would want to try my luck to seek for my potential clients who are interested in my counseling service. Who know, you, who are reading this might want a pair of faithful ears that can listen to your sorrow or unexpressed feelings? Or to you who are confuse with your career path; having relationship problem with family?

helping-hand

I am offering my service to anyone who can come over to University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, any time depends on your preferences. Remember, this will be my last time in offering free counseling service (till the end of April). So, I believe you wouldn’t wanna miss this opportunity? =)

If you are interested to find out more about this service, do drop me an email and I will reply A.S.A.P:

curryegg87@gmail.com

Hope to hear from you soon.. :)

At the same time, I should think of a few strategies to help me in spreading this one-time-offer to others who are in my campus. I need a client fast as the first deadline will be on this Friday. Haizz….

God, please help me and send a client (or a bunch) to me. Please.

P/s: Do I sound really that desperate? Well, I don’t mind if I do because I am expressing a sincere and real feeling. It is good to let you know that how a 3rd year counseling student’s feeling when she needs a client urgently for assignment. Not easy you know…

P/p/s: No client, no pass.

P/p/p/s: No wonder a professional counselor can charge RM80 per session.

I Am A Real Chinese

I mean…. A Malaysian Chinese.

Although I have single eye-lids, I am still a Malaysian Chinese. Hey! Why am I saying this? *pinch my cheeks*

The reason is, I am afraid that you might get confuse when you see me in hot red, cheong sam for the very first time.

wedding7

So, what do you think? Nice?

No matter what.. you will still have to agree with me that I look fabulous in this new, red half cheong sam. Or else, you will have night-mare 7 days in a row, starting by tonight… *serious tone*

Muahahaha…

All these photos were taken yesterday, during in a wedding dinner of my mum’s friend’s son. This is the first time I met uncle’s son although I know him like… 13 years ++? Emm… can’t remember the exact total number of years of knowing him.

Uncle CP, me and mum

I am honored to attend the wedding because it was so happening, so warm, so happy. The atmosphere was awesome as it was in a restaurant. Love the decoration, the music being played, the crowds and the air-conditioned hall… :)

Besides reasons about the crowds and the restaurant, it is also obvious that I am happy for my new 1/2 cheong sam! Well, why 1/2 cheong sam? Because it is just the top, not a real cheong sam dress.

Also, I could spend a good time, chit chatting with my god-brother, Calvin and my friend, Sum Yi at the wedding. Of course, with other aunties and uncles too.. =P

Calvin & I

Calvin will be leaving Malaysia soon to study abroad. That is the reason why I have to snap more pictures with him. Same thing goes to Sum Yi too as we don’t really get much chances to meet each other. She is now, busy with her work. That’s good because she is doing something she loves – the expert of food and hotel management. Yum… ^^

I seriously feel good, wearing this new Chinese top because it is a present from my mum. I could hardly belief that mum really allow me to buy this, despite of the price. Well, actually, it was mum who have this ‘love-at-first-sight phenomenal’ when she first stepped in her favorite brand corner at a shopping mall yesterday. She told me, she was so in love with this red top, however there is no size that fits her.

Ahhhwww…..

wedding11       I thought I will not buy it. Thus snapping a picture for remembrance.

I was asked to try the top by my mum as she really hope to see how it looks like on me, if not hers. Guess what? It fits me well. My heart was shaken looking at my reflection on the mirror. I had never own any top like this in my life, well, except the singlet cheong sam in t-shirt quality that mum bought be 7 years ago.

Seriously, I had never thought of buying this top, thinking of the price and chances of wearing this. If not wearing to special occasion, this top will most likely resting in my wardrobe, like my other dresses. And, and… you can’t wear it for every future occasion as it will bore others who have seen it, even myself too.

The 1/2 cheong sam top, like I’ve said.

Anyway, I took the top after putting on my thinking cap for almost 1 hour. Thank you mum and aunt (mum’s colleague) for persuading me, or else I will not own it proudly.. :D

*grin*

Of course, I should keep on thanking my mum for purchasing this fab Chinese top for me. I feel bad for complaining about my parents in my previous post (for good reasons). As I have said, I know they love me just, sometimes I don’t agree with their ways in perceiving things.

Sad that daddy was not that or else, this will be a family album.. :)

Well, this is what we call: Human. Being humans, is to allow ones to be imperfect (quotes from curryegg)

Mum is kinda blog-shy. She doesn’t want me to post her picture in my blog. Well, I don’t care. I want my children to see how gorgeous she is in future.. =)

Thank you again mum! I love you so, so much… :D

*jumping all around*

I should wear this top in most of the occasion: Chinese New Year, Grandma’s birthday celebration, Dad’s Birthday, Mum’s birthday, Eric’s Birthday, God brother and sisters’ birthday, National Day and.. what else?

=))

Bye Bye Ugly, Hello Beautiful =)

Notes: This post is supposed to be publish on the 14th Jan but due to some problem, it has been postponed till now.

Hey guys!

There is something I wanna share, which is about my first time experience using OH card with my coursemates. It took place in Mrs Nicole’s 3-hours-workshop this afternoon in my faculty.

Like always, I love attending Mrs Nicole’s class as it is so inspiring, warm, motivating, loving, understanding, accepting and so on and forth. Well, I believe my coursemates are feeling the same too. She is just so… Carl Rogers… Humanistic counselor: genuine and empathetic.

 coursemate copy

Being in her class for 2 semesters in a row really help me in improving myself as a person. Besides, my understanding in Counseling (especially about group counseling) has improved drastically. I am really grateful and thankful for having her as my lecturer. Words can’t describe how grateful I am.. *hugs*

Unfortunately, this semester (and the coming ones), we are not going to have her as our lecturer. So, attending her first F.O.C workshop about OH Card is really a great opportunity for most of us to explore more about this amazing tools. Besides, I get the chance to meet her! *ma ma.. ma ma.. lol..* (later kena smack) :D

Notes: To understand what is OH Card, just google “OH Card”. You will find good explanation from other websites.

I was again, being assigned as the facilitator for my group. My first time, being an OH card facilitator was during in UPM, when Nicole was in need of helper. Since I am the nearest student who she can get during in the semester break, I was invited to help her. Being a facilitator to a group of strangers is a real challenge for me, especially when most of them are adults. Somehow, the worried wasn’t that overwhelming because all of them are so friendly and open. I could lead the group quite well and it was a success. In the end of the day, the 10 of us become friends and stay connected in Facebook. Lol..

This time, it was between my coursemates and I. It was a challenge because… because… because.. i wasn’t that ready. I was still with my holiday mood.. adoi.. sorry to say that but till now, I am still having this ‘holiday mood’ and I can’t get rid of it.. =_=

Anyway, the 7 of us did really well throughout this whole 2 hours session. We could share something personal about us, connect our issues with others and also, very supportive.

Firstly, we have to pick 2 card at the same time; 1 with only word card and 1 with only picture card. Then, think, reflect and connect ourselves with the card and word. Try to think of an issue/issues which we can connect with the card. This is just the general idea.

Guess what? I got the ‘ugly’ word and a half full glass picture. Just a split second, I could connect myself with the cards almost immediately. For all this while, wait.. not all this while lah.. I mean, during in my teenager life, I was a really low self-esteem girl. My confident level was low when it comes to physical appearance. I think, I did share with you in my old posts.

Mum always reminded me, how small my eyes are. Dad never ever think that his daughter is beautiful. How do I know? Well, I asked him before, whether am I beautiful or not in his opinion. Guess what he replied? “Uh? My daughter? Like that also call beautiful ar?”

Ok. Fine.. =_=

I believe, parents play an important role in building up a child’s self-esteem because they are the nearest and closest people in the family. Also, they are the ones who create us. So, if they don’t think their daughter or son is good, who else? Well, I don’t blame my parents for this because I know they love me. They just don’t realize the impact because I never told them.

card13

Besides my parents, the society do affect my perspective in defining the word ‘beautiful’. To be beautiful, you must have hot body figure, organize eyebrows, juicy lips, attractive eyes, keep up to fashion, stunning shoes and etc. If you don’t have them, you are not beautiful. That’s the message I received especially from the media.

Well, ask yourself: “Have you ever come across with any photo of your favorite celebrities that look ugly?”. Aren’t they look so perfectly beautiful? (they have a group of hairstylists, make-up artists and photographers who help them behind the scene during in each photography/movie session. Oh ya.. and photoshop).

Well, I didn’t know about that till in my 20’s.

I guess, the above reasons explained why I could connect myself pretty well with the cards? I don’t feel myself ugly, but I feel that I am not pretty. Frankly, it is not a big issue which will affect my life. No. But it is something which I have been reflecting and thinking on myself and people around me. It is something which I have kept in myself for quite some times, till this time.. my insecurity feeling showed up in the group.

Which is good because, in the end of the session, I received a few very motivating and inspiring words from my coursemates. They told me something which I don’t know. Emm… secret… =P

Having the awareness of my own insecurity, I feel relief. I don’t see it as a weakness because it actually teaches me to be brave to face and accept the imperfect me. Something which is good because I can be more acceptance towards myself and also people around me who face similar problem. Like Kit Yen said, bad situation can turn into strength.

Thank you my dear coursemates for sharing your personal stories, views and offering sincere compliment. Although we were not that close with each other, we still managed to share our private story (for the sake of personal group). That’s what we want in group counseling, yes?

And you know what? You have just brighten up one little girl’s day – and life.. Thank you.. =)

card15

Hey! Now I remember, I haven’t write a column for ‘about me’ in this blog. Gosh.. there are so much to write, but so little time. Lol.. excuses again. Will see how.. till my inspiration is here.. again.. =)

Before I end this post, I shall tell you that….

“I am beautiful”.

It’s true what… =)

Pulau Manukan, Sabah

Sabah is a beautiful place.

Anyone who has been to or stays in Sabah knows that this is a fact. You will be amazed by her spectacular natural beauty: the forest, mountainous terrain and sea view.

we75

Although I have left Sabah for 2 weeks, the memory is still well kept in my long term memory. Well, how can I forget something wonderful like this? Right? How can I?

Lol….

we42

we17

I am not good in describing  a place using words. Not much bombastic words. Anyway, I have pictures which I can show you how I see and capture the beauty of Sabah at one of the islands, which is Taman Tunku Abdul Rahman, Pulau Manukan.

we55

Yessssssssssssss!!!!!!!

Finally, I am blogging about this island. Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. I can sense that your necks are getting longer each day. lol.. my bad.. Blame my new-semester-adjustment… =P

25-12-2009

During Christmas morning, my relatives, my family and I went to Pulau Manukan as our first stop. Uncle Khoo had rented 2 cars; one Prado for him and one Waja for my dad. Both families can fit in to these cars pretty well (gam gam). Wait! He didn’t rent but borrow from his friends.

Ahhhhh.. now I remember. We are so lucky! :)

   we29

we30  we22

One of the good thing about having a car/cars in Sabah is that, we can drive and go wherever we want with lower cost. Since Sabah is located in Malaysia, everyone who has license CAN DRIVE! I CAN TOO!

Excitement to the max.... :D

Anyway, I didn’t get the chance to drive. Dad was worrying that I might hurt the car (which is ridiculous because I WOULDN’T ok!?). I have good skills in driving. Emmm.. except side parking. Whatever..

we21

we60

So, that morning, both families reached the mentioned placed at around 11am. Seriously, it was hot at that hour! Like EXTREMELY! I know immediately that I will have sun-burnt problem if I allow my skins to be exposed barely under the hot, scorching sun for hours without any protection. Fortunately, Ary and I were smart enough to bring sun-block and olive oil along. I know my olive oil wouldn’t be that helpful as it will tan my skin even more. At least, I have something lah… =_=

This is what I called: Clear sea water

Well well well, I couldn’t care for my fairness anymore if I want to do water-sport activities at the island. It will be so stupid if I just hide under a big shady, tree in order to take care of my skin. Wouldn’t it be better to just stay at the hotel or maybe at home? Wasting time and money.

we57

we94

The best thing about this trip is, I have found my main-kaki. That’s mean, people who have same interest and excitement like I have. They are my cousins: Ary and Alice. Both of them can play pretty well, especially Ary.

Both of us are CRAZY!

Yes. You read it correctly. I MEAN CRAZZYY!!!

we78

Ary and I who are not good swimmers with no life jacket did our snorkeling quite far away from our parents when each father was busy teaching their own wife breathing and floating on the water surface using the rented mask and jacket. We enjoyed so much, watching the beauty of the corals and small fishes which swam passing us. We swam quite some meters away before we realized that we’d almost forgotten the adults behind us.

we76

I could catch Uncle Khoo’s worried look as he was swimming towards us when we decided to return to our group. Luckily, no one was being scolded. In fact, some lectures was given – for our own safety. Thank you uncle. I will always remember your advice after this: that is to have life jacket with us!

Haha..

After the 40 minutes of snorkeling activity, we then moved on to Banana boat. Again, this is my another 1st time experience. They cost RM40 per person for 10 minutes of Banana Boat ride. Well, it was kinda expensive but we still except the offer as we believe it will be FUN!

True enough.. the Banana Boat ride was really FUN! In fact, it was the best excitement and surprise I had so far. Firstly, we got a good offer after some discussions between Uncle Khoo and the staff in which we’re given another 10 minutes free ride, that’s mean 20 minutes per head. COOL isn’t it!??!!!

Next, the ride will be held in the middle of the ocean. That’s mean, few kilometers away from the Island. My heart was beating furiously during in my first ride because I was sitting on a yellow-in-colour rubber boat, floating on the surface of the dark blue ocean. I could barely see the coral under the water anymore. Some scary movie scenes which related to the sea suddenly struck my mind before the noise from the motor started to tremble.

Well, once the ride began, my worried for shark or legs pulling were no longer in my mind because I got distracted by the speed. I felt like I could fall off any second whenever the speed boat make a steep turn.

IT WAS SCARY BUT FUN AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

Wait.. is it fun, then scary.. or scary then fun? Ok. Now I am confuse.. >.<

Whatever the feeling I had earlier (scared, worried, fun, happy) turned into something disastrous. Something which I frightened the most. All of us were thrown into the sea water when the last steep turn took place. Well, we all have to pull away our hands from the handles no matter how because THAT IS BANANA BOAT! Lol…

Same thing happened for 4 times in a row: Ride, speed, scream, fall, choke and wet.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the feeling of riding on the yellow boat. However, I dislike the falling and choking parts because it was so painful, especially when I hit the person in front/behind of me and sea water rushed into my nose. Painful!

I feel like knocking this driver’s head when I saw this picture (of him yawning). Was it too boring for him when we were screaming out loud till both our lungs were almost falling off? I wouldn’t know this if mum didn’t snap pictures of us that frequently. Hate him..

we81

Anyway, the experience of riding on the banana boat is so fantastic. All of us shouted and screamed so loud that it triggered the driver to ride faster and scarier. Guess what, our 3rd and 4th ride were the best of the best. Better than roller coaster. Lol…

We thought of going to parachuting but our bodies were too tired and could no longer support other extreme activities. So exhausting.. :(

Even if the staff allowed us to ride for another 5 minutes, I don’t think I will accept the offer because I had no more voices to scream nor energy to float on the sea. Thank you very much.. lol..

In the end, we went back to our grandmas who were taking care of our belongings under a huge tree. We had our lunch on the provided straw mats. Besides, Ary and I did do some photography moments where both of us were busy snapping pictures in almost every corner of this island..

We left Pulau Manukan at 3pm sharp when there was a speed boat waiting for us at the jetty. I just couldn’t wait to return to our room in the hotel and have a good bath. Then, dying on the bed. Lol..

we12

Can you feel the strong winds like I do?

This is how my 2009 Christmas ended in Kota Kinabalu. It was marvelous! Thank you uncle, daddy and mummy for the trip.

we7

You can see that my skin was red in the end of the day.

As for my suggestion, visit Sea Quest if you are interested to go to Pulau Manukan as they provide good services. All payment are done here before you leave (if I am not mistaken because Uncle Khoo was the leader. He paid everything and I play anything. lol)

Coming post, Mount Kinabalu’s majestic view.

P/s: Amazing incident happened among us. Our acnes were all gone (on face & body) in the end of the trip. I realized this when I was washing my face at a public ladies and found out my 2 big zits disappear!  It must be the clean, unpolluted Sabah sea water.

Now, I am regret for not taking back few bottles of ‘magic water’.. =(
