Shaolin Naughty Attempt

I attended a training today with Frog Malaysia and it was seriously an amazing experience. It starts from the title of the training itself, Exploring Sites Beyond Classroom. Teach for Malaysia and Frog are collabrating for the benefit of students, teachers, parents and school.

I shall share more about this in my coming post because I would want to highlight some naughty stuff I did during in the training (when the session hasn’t started lah. I am still a good student besides a great teacher. lol).

After months of teaching, I finally got the chance to play with my webcam. You only got to play when you are free. So, here I am with my light-and-easy-mode. It started with a very pure idea of taking picture of myself.

take1

However, as soon as I realized Brian and Andrew were in the screen as well, my brain started to do some naughty noises. As you can see, Brian on my left in this picture has just got his new haircut. So, what I did was…. trying to point at him.

take2

But then, it wasn’t fun to just pointing at the person without any message or remark.. so… I did this…

take3

But the writing wasn’t clear enough, so I edited and become this….

take4

It was a great idea to color the words with pen but then, the model start to move around because the discussion had started.

take5

Not giving up, I made another attempt. The other model, Andrew started to talk too. So, I don’t find it successful. So, I took another photo with myself drawing closer to the camera.

take6

The result was good. The word is clearly seen, my expression was natural and the models were quietly seated. However, I feel something is missing. I realized that Andrew wasn’t as ‘Shaolin’ as he appears to be. He has too many hair compare to Brian.

A light bulb idea came to the mind when Joyce and Kugahn suggested to change Andrew with another eligible person, and he is……

Giles, my own LDO (Leadership Development Officer) in Teach For Malaysia. Lol… Both of them are so alike and truly a Shaolin Master. Yiieeeeeeeeaaaaaakkkkkk!!

P/s: Am I a naughty girl? No.

Doing The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Thingy

I used to tell Lakshumy, one of my very good Indian friends that I will do Bollywood dance in her birthday or future wedding together with my other Counseling coursemates. I said that during at 2010 Deepavali celebration at her house.

I didn’t know what come into my mind with that crazy idea. Maybe it was because Ilyana (my Singaporean coursemate aka the drama queen) was there and she activated my craziness side. I don’t really know how to do Indian dance but I can learn and do it publicly IF there are a group of people who do the move too. I am a very shy person, so.. ya.. =P

What happened was, both Ilyana and I did the move in front of Lakshumy. She was laughing out loud, included Shu Huan who was in the room too. Since then, Lakshumy had introduced me to her family by saying that Kelly will be the dancer in my future wedding ceremony or she could do Bollywood dance cutely.

Oh my. I feel like digging a hole and hide my head there. Lol..

Guess what, if I really have to do those move on Lakshumy’s big day, I am going to pull Jane in too because… SHE IS REALLY GOOD IN IT! LOOK!

 jane19

She was doing the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ thingy and she looks absolutely gorgeous and professional. We even thought of making a movie because of her professionalism after we came back from the photoshoting. Besides, here is another proof…

jane25

And this…

jane24

Isn’t she just awesome?
Hah! I have found another good team member besides, Bei Shan, June, Shu Huan, Adibah, Ilyana, Kit Yen and Rani. Ngek ngek.. Welcome on board, the new Bollywood dancer!

P/s: Shall we get ourselves nice, shinning but not too expensive Sari?

P/s/s: If you have not seen those wonderful photo collection of Jane, head over to this link.

P/s/s/s: She wouldn’t realize this post until 1 week later. Lol.. I can’t wait to see her expression when she online again XD

Exploration Of A So-Called Photographer

It was 6.15am in the morning when my before-lost-phone *sob*rang with its familiar ringtone.  I had made a date with Jane to go for a short visit at Taman Botani Perdana, some where at the edge of KL.

I have always wanted to play with my D-eggie for so long ever since he became part of my family. However, I hardly find a suitable time, mood and people to play with and yesterday was a good timing I must say.

Because:
“School holiday makes curryegg a happy egg!!”   <------------ Totally random

We reached there about 8am (my first time driving there) and the place was kinda of quiet. We spotted a few joggers and cleaners. That is fine because the quiet morning with cool breeze are just what I missed so much. I was rejoiced by the sound of birds’ chirping and gooses squeaking. Lol.. exclude the gooses. Don’t know where they come from pun..

As I walked around the garden, I recalled some of the photography scenes which I gained  from Eric and his gang back in year 2008  when he invited me to be his model. It was a fun and flattering experience when you have 9 photographers all together in that 4 hours for 2 models (Mamak was together with me too).. You can see some of the photos of myself back in 2008 with the funny-yellow-hairband.

And now, I am the so-called photographer after 4 years and making Jane to be my model.. *feeling proud*

jane24

We spent nearly 4 hours at the garden and I managed to get these much of photos. So here are the result.

8.00am – When the sky was still hazy and gloomy. Less light. I didn’t know her black shirt will turn out all right with black color background.

Lesson learned: Never try, never know.

Pretty love her natural expression here when she was trying to scratch her leg as a result of mosquitoes love bites. Note: Please bring mosquito repellant with you when you go outdoor shooting! You don’t want your photo be ruined by your unhappy expression!

9am – When the sky almost started to rain.
We found a tourist bus here and started playing around. The effect is pretty good.
By the way, I suspected my phone fell at this place. Bad bus T.T

9.30am
– The rain stopped and the environment looks fresher than ever. That is why Jane did some exercises and tai chi poses. Lol..

jane10

This was also the place we spotted gooses! Can you spot the couple?

jane11

Next, she continued with her Bollywood pose. Just, this time she came out from bamboo tress which is slightly different compare to usual Bollywood scene =P

jane9

jane16

Tried to snap the flying seeds clearly but unsuccessful. Still a good picture for me… :)

10.10am -
The sun was out and the effect was pretty good. I like how the camera capture the light of my model and the leaves. The yellowish+greenish effect of the plants make my picture look good. Oh, can you see the Bokah effect? This time it is the shape of circle and I managed to do that with some manual setting. First attempt! =D

jane21

Don’t you just love her smile? So natural =)

jane23

10.40pm -
The light was still good. Captured this at a nearby staircase. I like the grey in color background. It helps her to stand out when she was wearing black in color blouse but not so much for her pants.

jane1a

11.10am -
We came to this playground area when the sun released warmer air and hurtful sun ray. This was the moment you spotted several groups of wedding photographer team. Many couples came here for their wedding photography despite of races. Should I come here too? No.. too common. I think i want pink color leaves trees or blue ocean as background. Or Eiffel Towel as the companion or sitting on a gondola?

I want romantic feel.
Wahhhh~ *imagining myself as a princess*

Ok. Back to my photos. The atmosphere became quite bright and objects’ color turn out to be very sharp. However, some photos can be over-exposed with the strong lighting.

jane26

Also, one of my favorites <3

jane27

There was a moment when I took this photo and I purposely isolate this from the rest because it brings out a different kind of feel. I turned it into Black & White photo with her cool expression. The effect is pretty good. I did jokingly tell her in FB yesterday that she looked like someone from the ‘Zaman Kesultanan Melayu Melaka’ because of her scarf! Hahahahaha… That is what I saw in KBSM History Text Book on Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat attire XD

jane7

Still a nice photo of her. Credit to Jane Ho =)

I will show you 3 photos of myself, taken by Jane but before that I would want to explain something first. I didn’t expect to snap any photo of myself and a day before the photography session, my brain had already convinced me to wear something black with jeans because that is what a professional photographer will normally wear.

Wanting to look like a photographer, I dress myself like what my brain instructed with a pony tail and no make-up. Obviously, I did not expect any camera will point at me. Plus, I was pretty sleepy and no mood for one. However, Jane was good in convincing and in the end, she managed to get me pose. So here are the 3 photos which I find quite nice.

Ignore the imperfection if you spotted.

I edited this photo with my own quote and has already become my FB cover photo. Hah… Someone just commented on this photo that I look like a secondary school student. Well.. thank you and I should never ever let my students see all these >.<

kelly3

I pretty like how the red bag stand out.

It was a great experience being a photographer when you could communication and work well with the model. Both Jane and I find it easy to help out each other. Well, because we were good, old friend. But I wonder how will it feel to be a photographer for a stranger(s)? Would I get such a positive experience too? Or ended up being stressful?

Anyway, my question now is… am I eligible to be a photographer?
If yes, say “Way to go CurryEgg”. If not, say “Good job, Eggie”. Lol.. this is what I did to my students. Guess, my teacher’s persona come out once in a while too =P

Anyway, time to continue my assignment! I miss blogging long post with latest photos like this. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

P/s: My model look great even with no make-up. Thus, I am happy to share photos of myself with no make-up too because I think small eyes deserve attention too, like hers. Lol.. being random again.

P/s/s: Self confident is the key for beauty.

29 May 2012

Dear, I……

Ok.
I did what I was not suppose to do again.
Sigh….

I lost my phone for the 2nd time again in my life, minus 2 times being stolen. I swore I was being very careful… But, sigh.. This time, it dropped at the garden when I was busy shooting photo with Jane. I guess, it fell off from my tight pocket unconsciously. We both tried very hard to search around the suspected area, even talked to the workers but the result was expected.

I don’t think I deserve to use a mobile phone anymore. Probably I should just live a primitive life *smack myself*

One of the hardest moments is not to live without a mobile phone (I am living such a life now till I got back my number) but to inform le petit ami, (boyfriend in French) about the lost of his handphone.

My nervous system had already played its roles when the decision to inform the boyfriend came into my mind (surprisingly not to mum or dad anymore). I was imagining such a reaction:

*****

Me: Dear… Could I tell you something?
Calv: Yes my dear?

calvin1

Me:
Do you know you have such a charming smile?
*using the art of language I learned from Psychology*

Calv: Everyone knows that *smile*

calvin2

Me:
And, can I tell you another thing?

Calv: You can tell me anything, of course. What is it? *smile*

calvin3

Me: Promise you will not be angry? *gulp*

Calv: I’ve told you that you can tell me anything right?  Tell me lah~

Me: Oohh.. Ok.. I have lost your handphone at the garden today. I… am.. sorry..

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

calvin4

.

.

.

Calv: Say again?

.

.

*****

Those negative thoughts had conquered my mind and I could feel my heart beating furiously when the phone call received by le boyfriend. I have decided to bare the consequences so I am ready for the ‘say again’ moment.

To my surprise, he took it calmly and didn’t show any disappointment or anger towards the lost of his favorite phone. He even consoled me but at the same time advicing me not to use handphone anymore. Lol.. I’m joking. He advice me not to buy expensive phone in future.

I think I should. Or get an old phone like the bottle like one so that it is easily spotted when it dropped again. I guess, no one would be interested to stole such a bulky-out-dated-phone. Haha..

I am lucky to have such a caring and forgiving partner. This has reminded me about Dr. Randy Pausch on The Last Lecturer when he has reminded us that, “People are more important than things”. There is no need to hurt a person when you know the thing can be replaced. This is exactly what has been reflected through Calv’s action. I am thankful to both my boyfriend and God. I have learned something through the lost of the phone and the way he handle an issue.'

Still, a fruitful day for me… =)

Long Awaited Holiday

Hi guys,

How are you lately? It has been almost 2 months since curryegg.com been updated. Guess, some of you have been waiting so long that your neck has lengthen just like the giraffe? Haha.. well, I am translating the popular Chinese phrase into English. Sound weird tho.

I don’t know how many of you are still reading curryegg.com when the author herself (me) barely find the time to sleep, let alone blogging. I hope you are still with me. If you are still here, please leave a comment or click like on the facebook to show your existence (hope it is not a big request from me ^_^)

Well, this time, I purposely take a long break for myself from the blogosphere due to the consistency of exhaustion. As you know, I am currently a full time teacher-cum-student. The responsibility is skyrocketed ever since I enrolled myself as a Teach For Malaysia fellow. I have never expected the stress and exhaustion will be that high, tougher than working in the hospital I would say.

My words might sound negative but don’t get me wrong. I love my job and I enjoy what I am doing currently. What I need now is a long full rest to replenish my energy. I need to rebuild my stamina after a straight 7 months of hard work. Yeah, since October 2011 till yesterday. I still have 2 assignments need to be finished up before 30th May. Well, I will try my best to complete it by tomorrow. Puff..

Anyway, I have started reading English novels from my collection!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee… Finally! I love reading!

Honestly, I have been using Bahasa Melayu in all my teaching and common conversation with colleagues and students and I know my English mastery has deteriorated. It’s bad and I know I should  pick up. I was born in a Chinese family background with minimum English usage since I was small, unlike other banana friends. So, to be excellent in English, it requires excellent hard work from me. Well, God knows best.

I am going to end this post with two latest pictures of mine during Teacher’s Day. It is a huge event for me because it is my first time celebrating Teacher’s Day as a teacher. Hah! Call me a teacher =D

teacher1

This photo was taken during Teach For Malaysia week during April. I can use this photo safely here because we have received their parents’ approval. Weeeeeeeee! First time with non-mosaic faces =D

teacher'sday

Some of the presents I received from my lovely students. They are a few who gave after the event. I am touched no matter how small or big the gift is *sob*

teacher1 Me and Ranjeetha (TFM fellow).

I will not promise any future update after today because I don’t wanna put any stress on myself or make empty promises. Ever since become a teacher, I have this principle of,  Do What You Can, Do What You’ve Promised.

As for now, I officially declare that curryegg has 2 weeks of maximum holiday with family, friends and herself! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee….

Happy holiday to all the students and teachers in Malaysia =D =D =D

P/s: Currently, my plan is to have no plan at all. Yay!
