You’re Brave, My Dear Niece

My cousin-in-law has just passed away 2 days ago. Still remember my ‘cancer’ post which I have blogged like 3 weeks ago? Well, yes.. she is the one.

I had attended her funeral yesterday morning with my family. It was a sorrow moment (of course it is a sorrow moment. what am I writing here? knock my head) of everyone in the family as well as her friends who attended.

The feeling of lost is slightly different comparing to my grandmother. It is more heart-breaking. I guess, it is due to the age as well as the people who she leaves behind?

She dies at young age because of lung cancer. She leaves her 5 year old daughter, alone with the husband. I know she has tried her best fighting with the cancerous cells from the first day she discovered about the disease until the end of her last breath. Never had she given up any second, wasting time to end her life earlier although she suffered throughout the cancer-fighting-journey. I believe she is doing this for her husband, her daughter, her family and herself.

dearest

She is courageous, determined, loving and strong. These are the values which I want to learn from her – never give up until your very last breath. Thank you my dear cousin-in-law for the valuable lesson you have left me.

Being an aunt for a 5 year old niece, I feel very much for her. I can’t imagine if I am in her shoes. I seriously can’t imagine if I loss either one of my parents at her age. She might not understand the loss right now, but for long term while she is growing up, I guess she will feel the ‘loss’ more. Well, I hope she will be strong throughout the growing up journey. Hugs…

Before I end this post, I would like to thank some of you for being caring with my cousin-in-law, my niece and even myself in Facebook, Twitter as well as this blog. It is touching to read about your concern, prayer and blessing. Thank you.

May you have a happy life which filled love, wealth and success.

A piece of pink paper

This piece of pink paper is not just a pink paper.

It might look like a piece of paper to you but it is actually not just a piece of paper.

Ok. what the egg am I talking here? o_O

If you realize that I am not updating my blog as often as before, I think there is something you need to know about me (emm… no more cancer topic k? I know some of you are complaining about how I shocked you to death. If I did, forgive me. Lol..).

eggie2

Last February, I went to the Dong Zhen Temple in Jenjarom with my coursemate, Aileen. Like always, it is a breath-taking experience whenever I stepped into this wonderful place – from the way they design the landscape, some interesting Chinese and Chinese-translated proverbs and quotation, the atmosphere, Buddha teaching and etc.

The best thing about this trip is… I gain new insights.

eggie3

One of the insights I received is from this piece of ‘pink paper’. This is what they call, ‘prediction’ in which you pray and voice out your question, hopes or wishes in your heart. Then, you just have to pick a provided scroll from the box.

eggie1

Well, this is what I call the modern way of getting prediction. Unlike in the olden day, or in fact in most of the Chinese temple, you will have to use some kind of ‘complicated’ objects (which I don’t know the name. sorry) to get your prediction.

eggie5

I believe, you might be curious with… what’s so special with this pink scroll? Or some of you might be started asking, what does it tell Ms. CurryEgg?

Well, all I can tell you is.. it is an important wake-up call for me. A serious message which I should keep in mind throughout the whole semester, year and in fact.. my whole life.

Wanna know what does it tell me?

Ok. No more guessing games. I know you are starting to get frustration. Lol.. bad me.

“It is asking me to put plan into action. No more daydreaming nor silence planning because I will most probably end up not doing anything. What else? Well.. the rest will be my secret.. shhh… sorry guys..” =P

1 piece of paper, with 20 Chinese characters answer almost everything I wanna know. Don’t you think Chinese is amazing? Now I regret for not studying Chinese during in my primary school. Thank to my papa~

So, what is the end product?

Ms.CurryEgg is focusing in her studies ever since then. She pays serious attention into her assignment, test and homework (not yet for revision. Gosh!). At the same time, she is working on her ‘dream’ which can’t be revealed yet, not until the time is right… =))

funegg

Fun time! I miss fun time!

Sorry guys. Studies is still the main priority in my life – for now. Because I want to be a professional counselor.

*wink happily*

P/s: If you can’t get rid of your curryegg.blogspot.com egg-diction, you can always send me ‘hate mail’ in my gmail. I ensure you, I will get back to you asap XD

Friends & Penang Island

First of all, thank you again for all the sincere wishes which you have showered me when I was still enjoying the first time ever ‘1 minute fame’ in my life! It is great to received such a long list of comments from you guys (emmm.. also a hint encouraging you to leave more comments for me in future post including this. lolx).

Well,  it is time to get back into the reality world in which this Curryegg or Kelly Tan still remain the same. Nothing has changed in this person nor her blog. Thus, you can enjoy the original taste of this 'curyegg dish’. Haha… sounds so much like a joke.

So, here is my latest post: Friends & Penang Island

Frankly, I have attempted to blog about this for twice but obviously, the last 2 attempts was a failure. Still remember in my last few posts, in which I screamed, shouted and complained in the middle of the time for losing all my post, unsaved? (it is written here: Eeeerrgggghhh GONE!)

It wasn’t a good experience honestly, especially when you have thrown so much feeling and emotions into a single post, described by thousands of words. Even till now, I am still worried that I might loss this post in split seconds although I am protected with ‘high security’! The trauma… wwhooooo…. scary.

I should call this ‘blogauma’ (blog+trauma) :

Blogauma (Blo.gau.ma)

Definition: An abnormal situation/behavior in which a blogger is consistently afraid of losing all her/his data while he is blogging.

Anyway, I am sure that this time, this post is going to be published no matter how. I have high confidence over my ‘strategy’. Or else…. I will not blog about this anymore… *serious tone*

Weeks ago, while everyone was still excited welcoming the first 15 days of the Tiger year, my friends, cousins and I had been to a ‘Spend-time-together-CNY-walk’ at Penang Island. There were about 10 of us.

island1

Including the one who was the loyal photographer (lol).

It was a wonderful trip, thus a beautiful memory for me. I had never been to this place although I have stayed Penang for yearssssss… (Wei… I stay in the mainland k, not in the island..). Sorry to tell you that I don’t even know what is the name of this place. All I know is, this place is near Komtar and Perangin Mall. And, I don’t bother to google it because I am lazy. Oopss..

While I first stepped into this place, I was amazed. This place was seriously beautiful which initially thought I was in China, celebrating Chinese New year. There were Chinese decoration almost everyway. I spotted people wearing traditional Chinese customs (not just cheong sam and cheong fu) walking around the streets.

Magnet decoration items. They are cute, aren’t they? Ahhww.. They are made by clay. So cute!!!

w15  w6 w7 w5

Spotted my secondary school music and english teacher in his orange and brown, flora motif shirt. I wish I have the chance to say, “Good afternoon sir! How are you sir?”. Well, no chance as he was too busy with his work.

island10  Everyone loves group photo!

I KNOW THIS PLACE!!!  It is called: Khoo Kongsi.

w12 w13   Alice with her natural smile. =D

coolegg Remember this photo? It was taken here, at Khoo Kongsi. Cool isn’t it? =D

The lovely couple <3ww

Spotted tourists with their DSLRs. I guess they must be tired too.

ww2 ww32

I just simple love this place especially this template. What an elegant, ancient Chinese temple. Magnifying view.

The cousins group =D

The very first question popped up in my mind while I saw these people in traditional custom passed by us was, “Not hot meh? So many layer of long kain”.

island7

Well, I totally felt the heat which is as a result of the big amount of carbon dioxide produced by the crowds as well as the hot weather in Penang Island. I had been sweating all the way for hours and hours before I managed to get back into Mac’s car. Terrible! Luckily I just put a mild make-up or else, everything will melt and ruin my face!

Lesson: Put less or no make-up while going to such place.

tw12

tw22

I love these pictures. It might not be as good as a real DSLR or semi-pro camera, I am still satisfy with my so called ‘skill’. Now, I don’t need a DSLR to make a DSLR effect. Right? *trying to convenience myself*

Back to my story. The reasons why I insisted to write this blog post, is because of I want to capture whatever memory I can retrieved from the journey into this single post, attaching with photos which I took (and from Mac’s camera too). I really have a great time with all them time, including my seniors, juniors, new friends and cousins as it is hard for us to gather as a group when everyone is busy with their studies/work. Plus, they are awesome people whom I love to spend my time with.

We don’t gossip much, which is seriously an important criteria I am looking for. Because, in my opinion, gossiping too much can lead to accusation which is unhealthy and not fair to the ‘victim’. If you can feel your tongue is burning right now, as a result of my words, I am sorry. But then, think of this question and ask yourself: “How much do I know about him/her?”.

Honestly, I find gossiping is a waste of time because I can’t learn from it. In addition, it affects my first impression over a person before I manage to give myself a chance to understand him/her better. It is unfair for me and that person, don’t you think so? Rather than spending time on pin-pointing other’s weaknesses, why spend your time in doing something beneficial for yourself? Like drawing, hiking, public speaking, eating, sleeping or etc?

P/s: Caring and gossiping are two different situations. Caring is a way where you ask about other’s progress with sincerity to know how others are doing whereas gossiping is a behaviour of where you dig, add, filter and alter other’s story to make it interesting.

Besides, they are out-going, friendly, warm, adventurous and most importantly… they love cam-horing as much as I DO! Well, who don’t? Lol…

  island4 island5

Imagine lah, if I am the only one who love cam-whoring while others leave me or give me disbelief look all along the journey, where is the fun? And if they don’t like it, there wouldn’t be much group photos in this post. Yes?

Haha..

Gosh.. now I miss them. I miss my old buddies. I miss my secondary school friends. I miss my National service friends. I miss my tuition friends. I miss my junior. I miss my senior. I miss my coursemates. I miss my blogger friends. I miss Eric’s friends (just had dinner with them awhile ago) and I miss everyone whom I have come across with.

island2

Well, I don’t know why I have created such a sentimental ending of this post. I guess, my heart has been filled with too much love, warmth and sincerity from people around me in all this while. Thank you for being my friends and providing me with your care, love and support all this while. I appreciate to have you guys in my life. Friends matter… I love you all!!! =D

*hugs*

Hey!

I need to end this post quickly or I will drag things and ended up writing 10 posts in a single post. Lol… Bye~

1 Minute Fame On 8TV

Yesterday incident was like a dream to me.

Wait. In fact, it is this morning. My blog, http://curryegg.blogpsot.com is being featured as ‘blog of the week’ on 8TV Channel, Nite Live at 12.45am. Whooooooaa….

That’s cool isn’t it?

Seriously, I have never thought of my eggie blog will appear in a local tv program which is as a result of high responses among the Twitter users who follow @8tvnitelive. Thank to @Angelkein for suggesting it first and supported by @Suresh89 and the rest. You guys are rock!

Well, I have never come across with Nite Live program because firstly, I rarely stay late for tv program. Secondly, ever since my house has been subscribing to Astro, my time for local tv programs is totally zero. So, my awareness to the existence of this show is again, zero.

*sorry*

=(

Somehow, I feel that it is a blessing because there are people who suggested my blog to be featured in the TV program; there are people who supported the suggestion; there is a person who personally called me, telling me that my blog is being selected as the ‘blog of the week’'; there are people who are happy and excited with the news by reading from my tweets and FB status.. =))

Thank you people for creating such a memorable memory for me. Although it is not like an Oscar award, or a Noble prize or something XXXL (extra extra extra large), still I am happy because me, my blog and my HERMIT CRABS are being mentioned. Lol…

Talking about hermit crabs, I am kinda jealous to them. Why? You see, I have been blogging  for 3 years and I had never appeared in the TV until lately, I bought Finfin and Eggie. I blogged about them on 8-3-2010 at 12.40am and the next 24 hours, my blog appeared in the television and my HERMIT CRABS GET THE MOST ATTENTION!!!

Hmpm….

I thought I am the one who suppose receive the majority highlight, at least the name of ‘curryegg’ lah..

Anyhow, I should thank finfin & eggie too because they might bring me ‘ong’ (luck). That is why, my blog get featured once the post of them being published. Lol…. just an assumption.. =P

So, hear is the imperfect video clip which I managed to snap when my blog appeared. There is handphone ring tone in the middle of the clip. That is @suresh89 who is so kind, worrying I might miss that part. Thank you bro.. =)

Now I can add another chapter into my ‘curryland’.

Thank you guys.  muacks!

P/s: By the way, you should read curryegg.blogspot.com too even if you are not free.. because there are too many good stuff you can find here (other than ‘snails’ pictures) =)

Say “Welcome” To My Hermit Crabs!

I know some of you are so excited to find out what type of new pets I am raring right now. Well, thanks to Twitter and Facebook for the effectiveness in spreading the news. Yesterday, I had taken a picture of the plastic bag which actually containing my new pets via my mobile phone and published it instantly to my account. The amazing thing is, I received good responses from my facebook friends on my trivial question, “Guess what new pets have I just bought?

hermit27

Well, I believe my blog post title has already answered you. The new pets which I am raring right now are: HERMIT CRABS!!!

Wwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

I guess you might be surprise with this answer (except Mac because he had heard from me like months ago when I was still deciding whether to buy or not to buy) because this is so rare. It is like no one will ever think of raring a crab? Let it be Hermit Crab. Lol..

hermit5

Believe it or not, I love raring hermit crabs! I love them so much! Although I admit that I didn’t feel comfortable touching these crabs when I first bought them (which is yesterday), still I love them so much. I even have named them as Finfin (male) and Eggie (female).

Notes: They are actually very active and energetic till I have to press them with my fingers to stop them from crawling so fast away before my camera manage to give a nice shoot.

Why are you giving me disbelief look?

If you are thinking that keeping Hermit Crab is a rare hobby, or weird or crazy idea, you are wrong! You are definitely wrong because… Here are my good list of answers.

Why you should keep them:

1) They are so cute!!!

I realized they have their own personality which is very active, adventurous, smart, charming and most importantly cute!! Put them on the table and you can start watching them crawling side-way, all around your table. They’re even good at climbing. Watch these!

hermit26

hermit10   hermit19

2) Small in size

Small, thus easy to be kept. They just required a small place to live. Anyway, they will grow and if I am not mistaken, the biggest size will be like a compact camera. Ok lah, if they come until that size, then it will not be considered as ‘small in size’. Whatever. It is still cute! =P

hermit14

3) Low maintenance

Guess what? Each baby hermit crab which I bought cost me RM5 each. Then, you will need to buy salt (which is sold in the shop for RM1 ) and water spray(you don’t have to buy if you have one at home). You will have to dilute the salt into the water and spray those crabs twice a day (or whenever their habitat has dried off). As for food, you can either buy Hermit Crab Food at the pet shop or just get from your own kitchen! They eat fruits and vegetable like apple, pear, cabbage. Oh ya, and even rice! =D

hermit6

hermit7

4) Something new!

It is obviously something new for most of us (especially ME!). Well, let me just ask you this, have you come across with anyone who rare Hermit Crab other than me? (if you have, then just don’t ask this question. Lol). So, this is something new to be explored of. If you are a kind of person who like new and fresh stuff, try them!

Also, there is something new to be explored especially about their personality. These photos are arranged according to the sequence. What can you observe?

hermit22  hermit24

hermit23

hermit20

5) Learn National Geography from them

I am currently doing my ‘National Geography’ on these 2 creatures. My eyes just can’t take off from them whenever I am in the room. I wanna see them moulting and change their ‘house’. Their houses are shells. Once they moult which is an indication showing they are growing, they will need a bigger ‘house’ to fit their body. That’s when the shell changing will happen. And I wanna see them mating and producing eggs! I wonder will I be able to see this…

hermit15  hermit17

6) They are so therapeutic

Watching them climbing, playing, falling and eating can create a therapeutic atmosphere especially when you are having a hectic or lonely life. It is good to have them around when your eyes and mind can rest once in a while by looking at them. Besides, you can laugh at their silliness most of the time when you see them keep on falling down from stone, or somewhere high. Lol

9) No sound, no odour, what else?

Unlike dog or cat, they bark and meow a lot, aren’t they? I had rare a Chihuahua dog before and she sometimes irritated me with her high-pitch bark. Well, I love Mandy (the dog) so much and it is not that I hate or dislike her. I love dog and wish to keep one after Mandy’s death. However, it is impossible to rare dog at condominium.. =(

Next, mum dislike pets that will produce unpleasant odour, like cat, mouse, hamster, bird and etc. Those smell is sometimes unbearable.

So, one of the best things about Hermit Crab is, they don’t bark, ‘meow’ or churp. And they don’t produce smell, just like fish. Cool isn’t it? =D

8) Many and many more!

Let me discover the rest and I shall share them with you.. =D

*****

For your information, I took about half a year deciding whether to keep them as my pets. One of the reasons is because of, I am afraid that I might not know how to rare them since it is something new to me. Next, I am scare of their movement and their legs.. Lol..

hermit2 hermit3 hermit4

Well, no worries. I am getting better on them.

hermit1

End of post. So, what do you think about them? =)

P/s: Till now, I don’t know which is Finfin and which is Eggie because.. they look almost the same.. =_=

P/p/s: Sorry for publishing this post late. I thought this will take roughly 30-40 minutes. I didn’t aware of the time I had taken in blogging about my new pets. I might have being so excited and write non-stop! lol..
